I was losin' my mind - I was outta my head
When the phone rang and my kid's teacher said
That my kid was wild - and couldn't concentrate
And I had to do somethin' before it's too late
He stares out the window - then he runs 'round the room
Then he lets out a scream like a sonic boom
And he can't read a book - 'cause he can't sit still
But it can all be cured with a little pill
A-D-D - it makes my kid raise hell
A-D-D - but I can make'm well
Parenting is easy as A-B-C
When your kid takes drugs for his A-D-D
Solo
So we went to the doctor - and the doctor asked
If we helped our kid to try to stay on task
Did we make sure his homework was done every night?
Did we teach'm what's wrong and make him do what was right?
Discipline - huh? ..... but my mind started to stray
I kinda tuned out the questions - didn't know what to say
But when it was over - what I did understand
Was that it's nobody's fault - and the script in my hand would fix the...
A-D-D - that makes my kid raise hell
A-D-D - I gotta dope'm up well
Let's take a little trip down to the pharmacy
And get the pills for our kid to treat his A-D-D
Solo
Well the drug did the trick - and peace returned to our home
Though he sleeps a lot more - and walks 'round like he's stoned
Then one night on TV - I learned something new
Seems my kid's not alone - I might have it too
Now I know lots of people may think that it's strange
But we've decided our whole family style has to change
'Cause if we don't take pills and give each other hugs
How the hell can kids say no to drugs?
A-D-D - it made my kid raise hell
A-D-D - Now I got it as well
But they really love us at the pharmacy
'Cause our insurance pays to treat our A-D-D ....
We love our fuzzy little world of conformity
Where nothin's our fault - 'cause we have A-D-D
