Bein' A Hound

You know it must be kinda nice just bein' a hound
You got your tail up high and your nose pressed to the ground
You know that things are there before you can see'em
Sniffin' out squirrels makes it easy to tree'em
And when you bay at the moon - man - everybody knows you're around

You spend your afternoons in the yard just catchin' rays
And you sleep on the couch on cold or rainy days
You get plenty of food, though you always want more
You take a big, sloppy drink and dribble half on the floor
And if someone complains lookin' sad or cute really pays

You got a sense of smell that's a cause of awe and fear
And you don't miss a trick so you're there real quick
When the popcorn's been popped or someone opens a beer

Solo

You've got long floppy ears and a saggy baggy head
And you do me around but don't listen to a word I've said
If you're not under foot you'll soon get in the way
And if I want any peace then we'd better go play
And when nighttime comes I find you curled up on my bed

When people come to call you greet'em with a smile in your eyes
And you don't miss a trick so you're there real quick
And then you plant your nose right between their thighs

Yeah it must be kinda nice just bein' a hound
'Cause you don't squat and yet we still keep you around
Yeah it's our own damn fault that you're the way you are
We're the supporting cast and you're the only star
There are folks 'round the world who would kill for the life that you're found

You're one spoiled and pampered saggy baggy hound
